Hold onto your vibranium helmets, Marvel fans! A recent report suggests that Black Panther, the iconic hero, was almost sporting a completely different look in the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer.
Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, currently in post-production and directed by the Russo Brothers, is gearing up for its theatrical release later this year. The anticipation is building, especially with the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, slated for 2027.
Marvel has been strategically releasing teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday over the past few weeks, each one dropping hints and fueling speculation. The first teased Chris Evans' return as Steve Rogers, followed by a spotlight on Chris Hemsworth's Thor, and then a glimpse of some X-Men characters.
The fourth trailer, which is currently playing before Avatar: Fire and Ash and also leaked online, primarily features Letitia Wright's Shuri, now taking on the mantle of Black Panther. We also get a peek at characters like Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejía), M'Baku (Winston Duke), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).
But here's where it gets interesting: What about Black Panther's costume in this new trailer?
In the latest footage, Shuri is seen in a new, somewhat blue suit. However, according to scooper James Mack, that wasn't the original plan. Mack revealed, "That blue on Shuri’s suit, in several concept arts I’ve seen, it was purple! It’s a shame they didn’t use it."
This is just a rumor for now, so take it with a grain of salt. No official concept art has been released to the public. The reason for the change, if true, remains a mystery. Will Avengers: Doomsday address the costume alteration?
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
